Molecules that have been mentioned in Napoleon's Buttons Chapter 12 include Bufotoxin, Digoxin, Ascorbic Acid, Coniine, Strychnine, Atropine, Scopolamine, Cocaine, Lysergic Acid, Ergotamine, and Ergovine. Bufotoxin is a toxic molecule from the toad. It is a cardiac poison. Between the cardiac gycosides of venoms and cardiac glycosides from the toad, witches had access to toxic compounds. Digoxin is a prescribed drug in the United States. It is used as a medicine. Abscorbic Acid is a naturally occurring organic compound. It is one other form of vitamin C. Coniine is a poisonous alkaloid found in poison hemlock. It is poisonous to humans and livestock. It also disturbs the peripheral nervous system. Strychnine is a highly toxic and colorless molecule used as a pesticide. It is used to mainly kill rodents and small birds. If it is inhaled or swallowed, it causes poisoning that results in muscle convulsions and eventually death. Atropine is a molecule used as a medicine. It is used to treat types of pesticide poisonings and types of slow heart rate. Scopolamine is a medication used to treat motion sickness. Scopolamine is an alkaloid drug with muscarinic antagonist effects. Cocaine is a strong stimulate drug. It is mostly snorted, injected, or inhaled. Effects include intense happiness, fast heart rate, agitation, sweating, and dilated pupils. Lysergic acid is a drug known for its psychological effects. Effects include altered awareness of surroundings, perceptions, and hallucinations. Ergotamine is an ergopeptine used as a medicine. It can be used to treat migraines. Below I put pictures of some of the molecules that I just went over.
